„Saigrači su me lepo prihvatili i pokazali mi grad“
Kada sam došao u Vršac, svi saigrači su me zavoleli.

OFK Vršac will travel to Belgrade on Sunday to face Voždovac, and our first-team player Atem Mezekei believes the team can take all three points. The 20-year-old Nigerian footballer spoke to the club’s official website about the upcoming match, the team’s performances this season, his personal ambitions and his experience since arriving in Serbia.
“We want to take all three points against Voždovac”
Our team managed to get one point against Metalac in the previous match, although the players were determined to win. Mezekei says the focus has now shifted to Sunday’s game.
“We went all out to win against Metalac, but unfortunately, we only managed to get a point. So our focus now is on Sunday, to go and fight and take the three points. I believe that we can grab a win on Sunday,” Mezekei said.
The young footballer is satisfied with the team’s performances so far, but believes there is no room to relax despite the good position in the table.
“Well, as you said, the team is playing well and we’re up there, but we don’t have to relax because there are more games ahead, and every game is important for us. We just have to fight in every game. For me, I would say I’m trying my best to stay at the top of my game. So far, I’m doing well, so thanks to God. I just have to keep it up and help my team as much as I can.”
“The biggest challenge was the cold weather”
Moving from Nigeria to Serbia was a big step in Mezekei’s career, and the young footballer explained what was most difficult for him when he arrived.
“Well, for me, I would say the weather because it was so cold when I came to Serbia. But little by little, I adapted to the weather conditions.”
At just 20 years old, Mezekei has clear ambitions for his football career.
“To go to a higher stage in my football career, because in football you need to start from somewhere to get to a higher level of football. What matters is to put God first and focus on your goals.”
“My teammates were very nice to me and showed me the city”
Mezekei also spoke about life in Vršac and the welcome he received from his teammates.
“Well, Vršac is a very cool and peaceful city. The club is good and caring. When I came to Vršac, all my teammates loved me. They were nice and good to me, they cared for me, and they took me out and showed me the city,” Mezekei concluded.
